Privacy Policy
A clear account of where your image goes and what data is retained.
At CompressImg, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our free online image compression tool. By using CompressImg, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Image Processing
When you compress an image, your browser sends it over HTTPS to a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards it to TinyPNG for optimization and returns the result. The Worker processes image bytes in memory and does not write an image copy to persistent storage. TinyPNG's terms allow submitted content to be stored temporarily for up to 48 hours. If the result is above your selected limit, an additional JPEG re-encode runs locally in your browser.
- Images are transmitted over HTTPS through our Worker and forwarded to TinyPNG.
- Our Worker does not persist image files.
- TinyPNG may temporarily store submitted content for up to 48 hours under its terms.
- Canvas refinement, when required, runs in your browser and outputs JPEG.
Information We Do Not Request
CompressImg does not require a user account or payment. We do not request:
- Email addresses or contact details
- Account credentials (we don't have user accounts)
- Payment information (our service is completely free)
Quota and Analytics Data
To enforce a daily TinyPNG fair-use quota, the Worker derives a pseudonymous identifier from your IP address and stores only quota counters in Cloudflare KV. Daily counters expire after 24 hours, and the monthly marker expires after 32 days. The site also uses Google Analytics, which may process device, browser, approximate location, IP-derived, and interaction data according to Google's policies. Your browser stores a local quota estimate in localStorage.
Third-Party Services
Cloudflare hosts the site, runs the Worker, and stores quota counters. TinyPNG receives image content for compression and may retain submitted content for up to 48 hours. Google Analytics processes site-usage data. We do not sell image files or use them for advertising analysis.
Data Security
We use HTTPS for transmission between your browser, the Worker, and TinyPNG. No internet service is risk-free, so do not upload highly sensitive images unless you accept the processing and temporary-retention terms described above.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of CompressImg after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
